Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
